Bologna sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has claimed that he talked with Liverpool striker Fabio Borini in the winter transfer window about a possible move to the club and has refused to rule out a move for the Italian in the future.

Liverpool agreed a fee with Queens Park Rangers last summer on transfer deadline day, but Borini failed to reach personal terms with the London club and the deal didn’t go through.

After struggling to break into Liverpool’s first team initially this season, the Italian’s career at Anfield enjoyed a mini renaissance during January, but the striker has not played a single minute of Premier League football since scoring a goal against Aston Villa last month.

There were rumours that Borini might have been looking to leave the club in the winter window and the Bologna sporting director revealed that he had a conversation with the Italian about a possible move.

No deal materialised but Corvino indicated that a transfer might still take place in the summer if the player is willing to leave Liverpool.
