Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller feels that playing Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League tonight will be a surreal experience due to the problems in the Ukraine.

Pep Guradiola’s side will play the away match of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Shakhtar Donetsk tonight. But the match will be played in Lviv instead of the Ukrainian champions’ home ground the Donbass Arena due to the ongoing strife in the Eastern European nation.

Talking about tonight’s match, Muller said that the setting for their tie is surreal due to the ongoing conditions in the country.

“You know there is this terrible war out there, but you don't really realise it because you don't really know such a situation”, the 25-year-old was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“It's hard to grasp to be playing against a team that is based in a crisis area. It's a surreal situation.”

On the other hand, Shakthar Donetsk captain Darijo Srna lamented missing their home advantage after being forced to play 600 miles from their home ground.

“For us, it's a big problem, because we are not playing at home, we are playing away, a new arena.”

He went on to add that their team will miss the passionate support of their home fans and the atmosphere they create at the Donbass Arena.

“You don't have the power like you have at the Donbass Arena.

“It is something special – it's our stadium, it's our fans, it's our city.”

Bayern Munich will look to seal an away win to take home a considerable advantage before the second leg due to be played in March.
