Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent insists that his client was not providing any new information when he said a return to former club Napoli would be his first choice in the event of a return to Italy.

The Argentina international forward has been tipped to be on the move from current club Paris Saint-Germain when the transfer window swings open again in the summer, owing to the fierce competition for places at the Ligue 1 side.

A number of clubs have been consistently linked with Lavezzi, including English Premier League giants Liverpool, while the player himself has expressed his preference for a return to Napoli.

But any thoughts of a deal being done for Lavezzi to rejoin his former club should be put on the back burner, Alejandro Mazzoni insists.

"Lavezzi has said nothing new", the agent told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"He always said that if he had the opportunity to return to Italy, Napoli would be his first choice.

"But we must see if Napoli are interested or not.

"I also want to make it clear that we are not trying to get him to leave PSG at all costs.

"Lavezzi has expressed his thoughts, he likes Italy and especially Napoli, and if he returns to Italy, the city where he spent several years would obviously be his priority.

"But that does not depend just on him.

"Much depends on the will of [Napoli] president [Aurelio] De Laurentiis. Lavezzi is a professional and in football, weddings always need two participants."

PSG snapped up Lavezzi from Napoli in 2012 and he has picked up two Ligue 1 titles with the capital club.

The 29-year-old was strongly linked with the exit door last month, but PSG refused to entertain letting him leave the Parc des Princes in mid-season.
