Paris Saint-Germain forward and Liverpool target Ezequiel Lavezzi has revealed that moving back to Italy with Napoli would always be preferable if he leaves France, but said that he might join another club if they don’t want him in the summer.

PSG decided against selling the player in the winter window due to worries over signing a replacement, but there is speculation that they will make him available in the market at the end of the season for a fee of around €15m.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the player and have been claimed to be hopeful of taking him to England in the summer, but it is widely believed that Lavezzi is looking to move back to Italy with Napoli.

Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon has played down talk of making a move for the attacker and indicated that the club have other pressing needs in other areas of the squad.

Lavezzi admits that he is unsure about his future at PSG and stressed that rejoining Napoli at the end of the season is an option he would like to take up.

However, the Argentine said that if the Italians don’t want him back, then he is willing to consider other offers on his table at the opportune moment.

“I do not know whether I will stay in Paris or go somewhere else in the summer”, Lavezzi told Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

“We will see what is in store after the end of the season.

“I do care for Italy and I love the country. My first choice will always be Napoli, but it does not depend on me.

“However, if they don’t want me, I could go somewhere else.”
