Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven have held initial talks with Andreas Pereira's father over the Manchester United starlet continuing his career at the Philips Stadion.

Pereira's contract with Manchester United expires in the summer and the 19-year-old, who spent time in the youth ranks at PSV before joining the Red Devils, has so far not made progress over penning an extension.

While the Red Devils hierarchy are thought to favour keeping Pereira at Old Trafford, manager Louis van Gaal is not convinced by the youngster.

PSV Eindhoven are hoping to take advantage of the situation and, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, have already spoken to the player's father about a potential move to the Netherlands.

Pereira has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, talk his father recently admitted to hearing.

"Of course we've heard about this rumour [involving PSG], but we don't even know if PSG have had contact with Manchester United", he said late last month.

"All I can say is that my son wants to play and progress, and for the moment this is not the case.

"United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but if they want to sell him now, PSG would be a good club."

Pereira has made only one senior Manchester United appearance this season, turning out in the club's embarrassing 4-0 League Cup defeat against League One side MK Dons.
