Chelsea have confirmed that they have sold midfielder Thorgan Hazard to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Thorgan, who is the brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard, joined Gladbach on loan for the season last summer and wasted no time impressing in the German top flight.

Gladbach were keen to keep Thorgan on a permanent basis and have now managed to reach an agreement with Chelsea, meaning the Belgian joins the club permanently.

However, Chelsea have confirmed that as part of the deal a buy-back clause has been inserted, meaning they will be able to bring Thorgan back to Stamford Bridge in the future for a set price.

The Belgian joined Chelsea in 2012, the same summer that his brother Eden also signed for the Blues.

Thorgan was sent out on successive season-long loans at Belgian side Zulte Waregem and helped the club finish second in the Jupiler Pro League.

The midfielder's deal with Gladbach runs until the summer of 2020.
