AC Milan will make no attempt to keep Marco van Ginkel on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Van Ginkel is on loan with the Rossoneri until the end of the current campaign, but has seen his time with the club blighted by injury, while when fit he has failed to win over coach Filippo Inzaghi.

As a result, AC Milan have already reached a conclusion on Van Ginkel and will make no attempt to keep him permanently, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Inzaghi has not been sufficiently impressed with the young Dutchman's displays and as a result has regularly preferred other options in the Rossoneri engine room.

Van Ginkel has made only five appearances in Serie A for AC Milan, along with turning out for 12 minutes in the Coppa Italia.

He is now poised to return to Chelsea in the summer, though it remains to be seen whether the Blues will look to keep him at Stamford Bridge or instead seek a fresh loan for the schemer.

Chelsea snapped up Van Ginkel from Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse in 2013.
