Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has no complaints over last night’s defeat in Turin and has stressed that Juventus’ performance didn’t surprise him.

Goals from Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata condemned Dortmund to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Though Marco Reus’ goal in the first half does allow Dortmund to take an away goal to Germany for the second leg, Klopp admits that his side didn’t do enough to win the game at the Juventus Stadium.

He believes the two Juventus goals were soft ones to concede, but he also stressed that they themselves didn’t create enough chances in the first half to create problems for the home side. However, he is pleased that Dortmund held on to the 2-1 scoreline, which gives them a fighting chance in the second leg at home.

“The result is fair. We did lots really, really well in the first half, but we conceded two soft goals”, Klopp told UEFA.

“In the second half I had to change things early on. Juve had two big chances and I can't remember any big openings we had. If we were to lose, then we had to hold it at 2-1 and we did that, and now we move on.”

The Dortmund boss stressed that nothing in Juventus’ tactics surprised and admits that it his side’s failings that led to their defeat last night.

“We weren't surprised – Juve play this way. We just lost the ball in the wrong places and Juve hit us on the break. Nothing surprised me tonight.

“There wasn't more in the game for us today so we've got to accept the result.”
