Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has revealed that his team know how Fiorentina play and will be wary of their defensive strength during their Europa League round of 32 second leg on Thursday.

The Lilywhites drew the first leg 1-1 at White Hart Lane and thus will be slightly on the backfoot when they visit Italy this week, as Fiorentina have an away goal.

And given Vincenzo Montella's side's reputation when it comes to defending, Dier insists that the task, with Spurs needing to score, is not going to be easy

A hostile fan reception will be one more aspect that is going to put the visiting team on the backfoot from the very outset, according to the youngster.

In spite of all the difficulties though, Dier believes that his team have the ability to come out on top given the kind of attacking fervour they have shown so far this season.

“It’s going to be really tough, a really difficult game, but if we play how we know we can and how we did in the first half when they came to us last week then I think we’ve got a good chance”, Dier told his club's official site.

“We know how they like to play – they defend very well, they’re very good tactically so it’s going to be a really difficult match.

“Their fans are very vocal as well so I’m expecting a great atmosphere, but for us there’s no other way to look at it – we’ve got to try to go through.”

A win on Thursday would also help to motivate Mauricio Pochettino's team ahead of their League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.
