Fluminense starlet Gerson is on Barcelona’s radar according to Brazilian daily Globo Esporte.

Gerson is among the most highly rated prospects in Brazilian football and has received rave reviews from scouts. His qualities have some of the heavyweight European outfits interested in securing his services.

Barcelona have been reported to be the leading candidates in securing the signature of Fluminense Under-19 regular who plays as an attacking midfielder and is a Brazil Under-20 international.

Gerson's father, Marcos Antonio da Silva, known as Marcao, has visited the Catalan outfit and interacted with fellow Brazilian Neymar, who joined the club in the summer of 2013 from Santos and has gone on to become an indispensable member of the team.

However, Barcelona are not the only club interested in bringing Gerson to Europe. Italian giants Juventus are also in the running and they too were paid a visit by Marcao.

But while the player's father is happy with the offering in Turin, he is not clear on who is who at the club.

“The project at Juventus is very good”, Marcao explained.

“But the structure is not clear. It's a crazy thing.”

If Gerson joins Barcelona, he will follow in the footsteps of several Brazilian legends, including Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.
