Ronny Deila has blasted the referee after his Celtic side lost 1-0 to Inter this evening, slipping out of the Europa League as a result.

Celtic started positively at the San Siro against Roberto Mancini's men, knowing they needed to score to have any chance of getting through to the round of 16, after the first leg finished 3-3.

Inter did look threatening, but Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon was equal to everything thrown at him by the Nerazzurri, and the Scottish side were comfortable.

Celtic then suffered a huge blow when Virgil van Dijk was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 37th minute, giving the Bhoys a mountain to climb.

The Scottish giants did not lie down though, even though Inter dominated possession in the second half. Inter did eventually take the lead as Celtic pushed forward however, with Fredy Guarin hitting a superb shot with just two minutes left.

Celtic had no answer and went down to a 1-0 defeat on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.

For Deila, the referee's performance was just not good enough and he claimed if his side had had as bad a night as the match official then they would have suffered a heavy defeat.

"He had a bad day at work", Deila told a press conference.

"If we had that bad a day we'd have lost 5-0 or 6-0."

The Celtic manager also claimed that the red card shown to Van Dijk was "very cheap, very cheap."

Now though Deila wants domestic focus from Celtic, as they bid to win the Scottish Premiership and then try to reach the Champions League group stage next season.

"We have a lot to focus on domestically and then get back in the Champions League", he said.
