Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has bemoaned his side's 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina tonight, which saw them exit the Europa League 3-1 on aggregate.

Spurs quickly set about dominating possession in Florence, testing Fiorentina, but the Italians proved equal to everything thrown at them by the English side.

Both teams headed in level at 0-0 at half time, but it did not take long for Fiorentina to break the deadlock in the second half, with Mario Gomez latching onto a through ball after slipping away from Federico Fazio in the 54th minute and slotting it home.

As Spurs searched for an equaliser, Fiorentina hit them again, this time through on-loan winger Mohamed Salah.

Jan Vertonghen, in the 71st minute, was caught dithering on the ball by Salah, who prodded the ball past Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal, making it 2-0 to Fiorentina.
