Young Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom feels sure he has a winning mentality and insists he has the belief to think anything is possible.

Akpom has been eased into the Arsenal first team squad this season by manager Arsene Wenger, who rates the 19-year-old extremely highly and has been handing him a taste of top level football.




Recently Akpom has been introduced off the bench against Southampton and Aston Villa, impressing on each occasion as he edges closer and closer to clocking up regular minutes for Arsenal's first team.

 


The forward has credited his winning mentality for helping him handle being part of the Arsenal set-up and tackling what it means to be a Premier League player, with all the pressure that involves.

"If you put your mind to it, anything’s achievable", he told his club's site.

"Where I’m from, it’s a tough upbringing so everyone from my area has a strong mentality.

"When we used to play football you wanted to win otherwise there would be a scrap, there would be something going on, so I’ve a strong mentality. I’m super, super competitive and it’s good to have a winning mentality. Anything you want to do, if you put your mind to it and work hard, you can do it", Akpom added.

The Arsenal youngster also took time to stress his iron-willed belief in his own ability, explaining a saying which has driven him forward, giving him "an extra boost".

"You’ve got to have that belief in yourself. I love the saying ‘you are what you believe’. If you believe you’re a champion, you’re going to train like a champion", Akpom explained.

"You’re going to run like a champion and do everything like a champion. It’s like an extra boost."
