Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he will be well prepared if the League Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur stretches on to penalties.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Pensioners in 2011 from Belgian outfit Genk, was immediately loaned out to Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid and spent the next three seasons in Spain before returning to Stamford Bridge this season.

However having won four tournaments with the Atleti in the course of his stay, namely the Europa League in 2012, the UEFA Super Cup in 2012, the Copa del Rey in 2013 and La Liga in 2014, Courtois has revealed that he has never had to face a penalty shoot-out before in his career except in a friendly with Atletico Madrid.

The youngster though stresses that even if the situation at Wembley boils down to a shoot-out he won't be afraid and will take it in his stride.

"No, I don't think I have been in a penalty shoot-out before", Courtois was quoted as saying by ITV.

"There was just one time, which was in a friendly tournament with Atletico.

"That was the only time I've been in a penalty shoot-out."

Courtois also took time to speak about shoot-out drills with the goalkeeping coach at the club and revealed that it will be sessions like those that will help him cope with the pressure if it boils down to penalties.

"We all work with the goalkeeper coach, we do our thing in practice.

"We will be prepared if it goes to penalties."
