Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio insists that his team need to prove that they are a strong side on the road when they take on Fiorentina in Florence this evening.

The Lilywhites go into the match with a slight disadvantage having drawn the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie 1-1 last week, that meaning Fiorentina have a vital away goal.

And now Mauricio Pochettino's team have to find a way through to go to the next round by winning away from home.

However, given their relatively satisfactory performances away from home this season, Fazio is optimistic that his side will be able to work against the odds to win the match against Fiorentina in Italy.

Drawing references from his experience while playing for Sevilla last year, the Argentine added that he has previous experience of having lost the home leg and then bouncing back to win the away leg. And that is why he was not disheartened by the draw for Tottenham and will go to get the victory in Italy.

“Last season with Sevilla we lost the home leg against Betis and then we won away so I know it’s important to keeping working, regardless of the first-leg score”, Fazio told his club's official site.

“I think we are a very strong team away from home. We’ve demonstrated in the league that we’re a strong side on the road.

"But we will need to start well in Florence like we did last week.

“We need to really be focused on our objective of winning – I’m positive that we can get the result we need.”
