David de Gea has blasted speculation that he does not get on with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

It has been claimed that Van Gaal and De Gea have not spoken in months, with relations between the two at an all-time low and pushing the shot-stopper towards the exit door and a potential move to Real Madrid.

De Gea's contract with Manchester United expires in 2016 and there is no sign of an extension on the horizon, amid talk the former Atletico Madrid custodian wants a release clause inserting into the deal, despite the Red Devils being willing to make him one of the club's highest-paid players.

But De Gea has insisted all is well between himself and Van Gaal and claims he is enjoying life at Old Trafford.

"Everything that has been written in the press about us not getting on is a lie", he told MUTV.

"We both want the best for the club and the team, and the stories are complete lies.

"I think this is the best period of my career.

"I am playing the best football that I’ve ever played.

"I’m really enjoying it at the moment and I’m just trying to improve with every training session and every game that goes by, giving 100 per cent and concentrating to the maximum.

"That’s the way I want to continue."

De Gea now has competition between the sticks at Manchester United from former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who Van Gaal snapped up on a free transfer earlier this year.
