Celtic striker John Guidetti is furious with the performance of the referee in their loss against Inter Milan at the San Siro last night.

Fredy Guarin scored in the 88th minute to book a place for Inter in the last 16 of the Europa League, sending the Italians through 4-3 on aggregate in the tie. However, Celtic were playing with ten men after Virgil van Dijk was sent off in the 36th minute for a second bookable offence.

Ronny Deila and Van Dijk have already let their displeasure with the referee’s performance be known and have stressed the decision played a huge role in Celtic’s exit from the competition.

And now Guidetti has criticised the referee, whom he believes made the difference last night. The striker added that a game should be decided by players and not by the referee's performance.

The Swede said that he doesn’t have a problem with losing, but he finds it difficult to accept it if the opponents don’t win through fair means.

"The game should be settled by the players, not by someone else", Guidetti was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I can lose a football match. I don't like it, but I can lose a football match if we play a fair game and the opposition is better than us and wins fair.

“But I don't think that was the case."

Celtic will now dust themselves off and focus on domestic matters, with the side still in the running to win three trophies this season.
