Neil Redfearn has stressed that the rebuilding process at Leeds United is still firmly in its infancy.

The Whites have moved to ten points above the relegation zone in the Championship on the back of a good run of recent form. However, they did suffer a setback in midweek with defeat away at Brighton.

Redfearn feels sure his squad lacks the strength in depth needed to compete at the top end of the Championship table, but has stressed that the club's rebuilding process is still very much in its early stages.

"We lack a bit of strength in depth if I'm honest, but that can be through most rebuilding processes", he told LUTV.

"You've got to remember this rebuilding process is really in its infancy and it only started at the beginning of the season.

"There's been a lot of change, a lot of upheaval, but I think the lads have done fantastically well to get us to this point.

"There has been a real effort and togetherness about what we've done."

Nevertheless, Redfearn feels there is already much to take out of the season with several young starlets having become accustomed to playing on a regular basis in the cut and thrust of the Championship.

"We've made great strides, particularly with the young players. To have four young players come out of the academy and be mainstays in the side is no mean feat. And there are other lads who can compete as well."

Leeds are next in action tomorrow when they host Watford at Elland Road.
