Barcelona have entered the race for the signature of Manchester United linked Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and have contacted his agent to discuss a potential switch to Catalunya, according to Spanish daily Marca.

At 21, the Frenchman has become one of the most sought after young midfielders in the transfer market and a number of top European clubs are making a beeline for his signature.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both believed to be preparing big money offers for the midfielder and are expected to place their bids with Juventus in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain also hold a long term interest in French international and the Italian champions are aware that they might not be able to compete with the financial muscle of the top European powers to hang on to Pogba.

To complicate the transfer saga further, Barcelona have also thrown their hat in the ring for Pogba and have, it has been claimed, contacted Mino Raiola, his agent, regarding a potential switch for his client to the Nou Camp.

However, because of a FIFA transfer ban, Barcelona are not allowed to buy players until 2016 and the club have asked the French midfielder to wait until that date. They are prepared to agree a deal in principle with him and complete the switch officially in or after January 2016, when the ban will be lifted.

With more and more clubs entering the fray, Juventus are gearing up for a battle in the summer to hold on to the talented French international.
