Mauricio Pochettino feels his Tottenham Hotspur side's 5-3 defeat of Chelsea on New Year's Day has filled his squad with self-belief ahead of tomorrow's League Cup final against the same opponents.

Spurs take on Chelsea at Wembley as they go in search of their first piece of silverware since 2008. The event is also Pochettino's first final as a manager.

Chelsea, under Jose Mourinho, will start as big favourites to pick up the first major trophy of the English season, but Pochettino believes his side's win over the Blues at the start of this year has left his players confident of victory.

Now the Argentine has called for a repeat of the 5-3 performance, which he believes would put his men on the brink of glory.

He told Spurs TV: "This game was important for belief.

"In this moment we know we can [beat Chelsea], if we play all together, and our power is in the team.

"This is an important thing for us and we need to remember, and to repeat the same performance to be close to winning the final."

The former Southampton boss also stressed that the only important thing on the day is to claim the trophy, something his side will need no extra motivation to do.

"The important thing is to get the trophy and for that we need to be ready.

"But we are ready and we need to enjoy it because we are fully motivated and we believe in our way."
