Louis van Gaal feels Manchester United's strikers could be having an "unlucky year" in front of goal and stated his belief that their fortunes could change next term.

Robin van Persie has top scored for the Red Devils so far in the Premier League this season, but only has ten goals to his name. Next in line is Wayne Rooney with eight, while Juan Mata and Radamel Falcao are third and fourth with five and four respectively.

It had been thought when Van Gaal put together a vast array of attacking options, supported by Angel di Maria, that scoring goals would be the least of Manchester United's strikers' worries.

In reality things have proven very different. But Van Gaal will not write off his men.

"It doesn't tell you anything about next year", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.
