Brendan Rodgers has declared Philippe Coutinho fit to face Manchester City in Liverpool's crunch clash at Anfield tomorrow.

Coutinho did not travel to Turkey with Liverpool for their Europa League exit at the hands of Besiktas on Thursday evening, but Rodgers says he is fit to play against Manuel Pellegrini's men as the Reds aim to keep their top four hopes on track.

Rodgers, speaking at a press conference this morning, was asked to provide an update on the fitness of his squad and any returning members.

He replied: "It's going to be similar to what we had the other night.

"Young Phil Coutinho will be fine. But the rest will be as it was really.

"We'll assess one or two of the boys that have been out, like Jordan Henderson. We'll have a look at Jordan and see how he is", the Liverpool manager concluded.

Liverpool head into he match sitting sixth in the Premier League table, though a good run of form has seen the Reds draw to within two points of fourth-placed Manchester United.

They are ten off second-placed Manchester City, who are desperate to win at Anfield to cut a five-point gap to league leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool won the encounter between the two at Anfield last season, running out 3-2 winners.
