Adam Lallana has hailed Liverpool's 2-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield today, dubbing match-winner Philippe Coutinho a "little magician".

Both teams started with clear displays of their attacking intent, with the match swinging from end to end. It was Liverpool who would take the lead, Jordan Henderson cutting inside to strike a superb right-footed shot past Joe Hart in the eleventh minute.

Manchester City would not lie down though, with Sergio Aguero slipping in between the Liverpool defence to hit the post in what was a warning for the Reds.

The next strong Manchester City attack did see them score, with Aguero producing a superb ball for Edin Dzeko to guide the ball home.

In the second half, Liverpool stepped up a gear, dominating Manchester City in midfield and looking threatening throughout.

And the Reds got their reward when Philippe Coutinho produced a simply sublime strike in the 75th minute, curling the ball past Joe Hart.

Liverpool claimed the win and Lallana was left delighted, telling Sky Sports: "That's a massive win for us. We've got momentum, they're the champions and we deserved it."

And the midfielder delighted at Coutinho's contribution, insisting the future for Liverpool looks bright with talents like the Brazilian.

"The little magician, Coutinho, at the end, coming up with wonderful goal. With players like that we'll go far.

"Our system has been causing problems for opponents, the manager said keep patient and find the space.

"We thought we were unlucky not to go in ahead at half-time. The lads showed character, many played extra-time in midweek and had a long flight, but we showed we can keep fighting."
