Celtic boss Ronny Deila is delighted with how his side shrugged off their Europa League exertions to crush Aberdeen 4-0 at Paradise in a Scottish Premiership fixture today.

The Bhoys took the lead on home turf when Jason Denayer headed them in front in the 37th minute. Leigh Griffiths doubled Celtic's advantage from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute, before Gary Mackay-Steven hit an impressive drive just six minutes later.

Aberdeen were on the ropes and Stefan Johansen completed the rout ten minutes from time to end the Dons 13-match unbeaten run and put Celtic six points clear at the top of the table.

For Deila, the win was all the more impressive given Celtic's Thursday night Europa League clash in Italy against Inter.

"I’m so happy for the performance and the result. I’m proud of the boys", he told his club's site.

"It’s so hard to play so many games like we do now, and we didn’t get back to Glasgow till 3am on Friday and that’s a tough one when you’re going to play two days after.

"You could see in the first half we were struggling to get the tempo in our legs and Aberdeen were really fresh.

"They were offensive and pushed us back."

Celtic next welcome St Johnstone to Paradise on Wednesday night, when they could extend their lead over Aberdeen to a whopping nine points.
