Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn feels Watford were always going to create goalscoring chances against his side yesterday and has claimed the Hornets' lavishing "millions" on players was clear to see.

Redfearn's men raced into a 2-0 lead against Watford at Elland Road, looking set to collect three Championship points.

But Watford pegged the score back to 2-1 in the 39th minute, before then completing a remarkable turnaround in the second period with two more goals to run out 3-2 winners.

Redfearn bemoaned poor defending for the defeat, however he also believes that Leeds have only suffered a fate similar to a number of other teams to have faced Watford this term.

He told a press conference: "You should win [from 2-0 up], but Watford have done that to one or two people. They are a free-scoring side and you can only legislate for so much. You're expecting players to make good decisions.

"It could have been 5-5. They had chances, we had chances. I think if you look at Watford's games this season a lot of them have been like that."

The Leeds manager also pointed to what he sees as a financial imbalance between the two teams, as he pursues a policy based on promoting young talents at Elland Road, while he believes Watford are splashing the cash.

"They [Watford] are probably the highest scorers in the division, they have players that score goals. But they've spent a lot of money and if you spend a lot of money and get good players in then you're going to create a lot of chances and score goals.

"You've got to remember we have four players out of our academy there, whereas they have gone into the market and paid millions for players. So there's a difference, it's a different ball park.

"But I'm not knocking what we've done or what we're doing because up to this point we've done well and at times we played well."

Leeds will aim to quickly bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday evening when they host Ipswich Town at Elland Road.
