Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin feels yesterday’s 2-0 win over Everton was important as they needed to make a strong statement after their disappointing 3-1 Champions League defeat to Monaco in midweek.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky helped Arsenal to register a win over Roberto Martinez’s men at the Emirates Stadium.

The win helped the Gunners to move up to third in the league table and they are now just four points off second placed Manchester City, who lost at Liverpool yesterday.

Bellerin, who played the full 90 minutes against Everton, stressed the importance of the victory and said Arsenal had to win back the confidence of the fans after a disappointing home loss to Monaco in the Champions League last Wednesday.

“It was really important for everyone”, Bellerin told the club’s official site.

“The fans deserved the win today after the performance on Wednesday and it was also important for us to get back on a run of winning ways.

“It was a really, really important win and it was important the team got it.”

Elaborating on their objectives for the rest of the season, Bellerin stressed that they have to pick up as many points as possible in the eleven remaining league fixtures to secure a Champions League spot for next term.

The Spaniard is also not giving up hope of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition this season and believes they are good enough to get a positive result at Monaco next month.

“We just need to push as hard as we can”, explained the youngster.

“We’re playing for points so we need to push as hard as we can in all the competitions. We have faith to play Monaco away. The same way they can score three goals, we can as well so we don’t think we’ve lost there yet.

“We just need to be together and push for the best.”

Arsenal will take an away trip to relegation battling Queens Park Rangers this Wednesday before travelling to Old Trafford next Monday to take on Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final clash.
