Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has expressed his satisfaction at having put up an impressive display for his team in their match against Manchester City yesterday.

The 24-year-old has been plagued with multiple injuries this season and returned to action only last month for Brendan Rodgers' men.

And since then the Wales international has been in relatively good form, playing three matches in the Premier League and he has been on the bench on two more occasions.

Speaking about the match against Manchester City yesterday, which his team won 2-1, Allen added that it was probably one of his best performances for the Reds so far.

And now he wants to improve on that performance and enjoy an injury free season to produce displays similar to that turned in against Manchester City.

"It was probably one of my best performances for Liverpool", Allen told his club's official site.

"It's unfortunate for individuals when you get injuries. I've been on the other side of it this season.

"It has given me my opportunity in recent weeks and when the team wins it's always fantastic to be part of it.

"If I can maintain my fitness going forward then I'm confident I have the ability to put in those kinds of performances consistently."

Allen's focus will now shift from yesterday's match as Liverpool prepare to host Burnley on Wednesday.
