Ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Wednesday, West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has said that Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho gets the best out of him.

Adrian joined the Hammers in the summer of 2013 from Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis and has since then gone on to become the Premier League outfit’s first choice in goal.

Mourinho was at the helm of Spanish giants Real Madrid for three seasons, from 2010 until 2013, and the Spaniard had the chance to deny the Portuguese’s side in November 2012 as he helped Real Betis to a 1-0 triumph.

Adrian recalled that game and his match-winning performance to deny the current Blues’ manager a victory during his Spanish sojourn.

“With Betis, we won the game 1-0 and personally I was the Man of the Match and I was very happy with that result!” the goalkeeper told the club website.

To add to his La Liga heroics, the 28-year-old helped the Hammers hold Chelsea to a scoreless draw at Stamford Bridge last season, and he has a fond memory of that match.

“I don’t know if Mourinho remembers me, but when I play against him I have got some good results – a win with Real Betis and a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last season.”

The Hammers will host the League Cup winners at the Boleyn Ground on Wednesday where a win for Sam Allardyce’s side would help them boost their chances for a finish among the European spots, and simultaneously dent the visitors’ chances of a title win.

Adrian has sounded a warning note for Mourinho’s side, claiming that the two-time Champions League winning manager gets the best out of him.

“Personally, I feel good when I play against Mourinho!”
