Manchester United reserve team boss Warren Joyce believes a number of his young charges will be tested against Bolton Wanderers this evening.

Joyce leads his troops against the Trotters in the semi-final of the Manchester Senior Cup, with the winners due to face Manchester City in the final.

There is no age limit in the Manchester Senior Cup and as such Joyce expects Bolton to select a number of experienced players, which he knows will push his young talents on the night.

Joyce told the club's site: "I think, particularly in this competition, a lot of senior players tend to play against us.

"Teams can play whoever they want and they usually select older ones, so we're looking forward to the game."

Manchester United could hand starlet Tyler Blackett a game against Bolton, as although the defender was sent off in an Under-21 Premier League match against Sunderland last week, his ban does not start until 14 days after the red card.

Joyce may also ease experienced midfielder Michael Carrick back into action, the returning star needing to be handed an outing as he looks to build up fitness to push for a first team recall.

Manchester United picked up the trophy last term, beating Manchester City in the final.
