Lamine Sane, who was chased by West Ham last summer before deciding to stay put at Bordeaux, admits that his firm preference lies with Liverpool in the event of a move to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old defender has been in fine form for Bordeaux, doing his bit for Willy Sagnol's men as they fight to finish in a European spot in Ligue 1; Les Girondins currently sit seventh in the league standings.

Links with moving elsewhere have persisted for the Senegal international, but he is clear in his view as to where he wants to end up if he does leave the Stade Chaban-Delmas.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Sane said: "Honestly, I am fine at Bordeaux.

"It's true that England has always attracted me.

"The club: Liverpool.

"I have always said since my very first interview that Liverpool are a club that appeal to me", Sane added.

The defender is locked down on a contract with Bordeaux until the summer of 2017 and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool pay heed to his words and launch a summer swoop for his services.

Sane has made over 200 appearances for Bordeaux in total, picking up the Coupe de France with the club in the 2012/13 campaign.

In a sign of Sagnol's respect for the centre-back, Sane is the club's captain.

The defender was also linked with Cardiff City last summer.
