Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged his team to move on from their League Cup final defeat to Chelsea and make a strong comeback against Swansea tomorrow.

The north London outfit lost 2-0 to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in the final of the League Cup to squander their chance to win their first silverware this year. But a clinical display from their west London rivals put paid to Spurs' plans.

Pochettino believes that his team need to get over their Wembley disappointment quickly and start collecting points in the Premier League to stay on course for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

“We need to lift the players”, Pochettino was quoted as saying by the BBC at a pre-match press conference.

After a stuttering start to their season, Tottenham have found form of late and have only lost twice in their last ten Premier League outings as they have risen to seventh in the table, six points behind fourth placed Manchester United; the Londoners have a game in hand over Louis van Gaal’s side.

The Argentine added that his team need to start focusing on Swansea, tomorrow’s Premier League opponents.

“We need to put the idea into the team that tomorrow is the most important game.

“We know that is difficult because the expectation was so high for Wembley. But we need to forget that.”

Swansea too have enjoyed good form, losing only once in their last five Premier League encounters as they sit just a spot behind Spurs. And Pochettino insisted that Garry Monk’s team will provide stiff opposition tomorrow.

Pochettino is especially alert to the danger posed by Swans talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson.

“Swansea are a team who can play very good football, very good players and we know players like Sigurdsson.

“It is important to get the three points. We need to get some good feelings and this game is important.”

With their top four rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all picking up a win on the weekend, Spurs will need to register a victory themselves to stay in the hunt for a Champions League spot come the season’s end.
