Former Tottenham Hotspur star and Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is on the radar of MLS side Sporting Kansas City.

The 32-year-old’s contract with Hamburg is set to expire this summer and the player is believed to be interested in making a move away from the club.

According to Sport Bild, the veteran Dutch midfielder has been attracting interest from the MLS and a delegation from Sporting Kansas City were in attendance for Hamburg’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday.

There is speculation that the MLS side are in negotiations with Dutchman and the player might be moving to the US once his deal with the Bundesliga outfit runs out at the end of the season.

The midfielder missed the World Cup last summer after he picked up an injury just before the start of the tournament and also struggled with a calf injury during the initial phase of the season.

Despite all the injury concerns, Van der Vaart has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Hamburg this season, scoring five goals and is expected to play an important role in their bid to avoid relegation to the second tier of German football.
