Jose Mourinho has given a guarantee that skipper John Terry will still be a Chelsea player next season, hinting a new contract for the defender is all but done and is awaiting only a signature.

Terry captained Chelsea to success in the League Cup final on Sunday, while he was also handed the man of the match award for his performance against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, as Chelsea ran out winners.

The centre-back's contract with Chelsea expires in the summer and the Blues only offer players above 30 years old, 12 month contract extensions.

And Mourinho insists that Terry will definitely be at Chelsea next season, despite the fact he has not yet signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

"It will be [signed] before the end of the season for sure", he told a press conference.

"But what I can guarantee for sure is that he will be a Chelsea player next season.

"I know what my board tell me and I know what the player tells me.

"So he's going to get his contract, no doubt."

Terry could yet pick up two more trophies with the Blues this season, with Chelsea sitting top of the Premier League table and also in the last 16 of the Champions League. Mourinho's men are next in action tomorrow when they play Sam Allardyce's West Ham side.
