Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini insists that he is under no pressure to win the Premier League title every year because, though a title is important, it is not the only important thing.

The Citizens' dream of winning back-to-back Premier League titles were dealt a huge blow as they lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, in the process failing to chip away at Chelsea's lead.

Manuel Pellegrini's team now find themselves five points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, who still have a game in hand.

However, the Chilean boss refuses to be bogged down with pressure as he insists that winning titles isn't everything.

The only pressure for him, Pellegrini insists, is when he sees that his team are not playing the way he asks them to play.

"I never have any pressure about the amount of titles", Pellegrini said at a press conference, via his club's feed.

"The only pressure for me is when I see my team not playing in the way I want them to play."

The 61-year-old also took time to reveal that when he signed his contract with the Sky Blues he was not told that he had to win the title every year or five titles in five years.

"I repeat, when I signed my contract I was not told I had to win one title every year or five in five years.

"The title is important, but not the only important thing."
