Inter are not keen to take up the option of signing Lukas Podolski on a permanent deal from Arsenal in the summer, it has been claimed.

Since his arrival at the San Siro in January on loan deal, the German forward has failed to make his mark in Italian football and is yet to score a goal for Inter.

Another below par performance in Inter’s 1-0 home loss to Fiorentina on Sunday exacerbated the situation and the club are now contemplating Podolski’s future with the Nerazzurri.

According to Tuttosport, the Inter hierarchy have decided against signing the forward on a permanent deal from Arsenal at the end of the season and the player will return to the Emirates Stadium at the end of his loan term.

Inter coach Roberto Mancini chose not to add Podolski to his Europa League squad last month, instead picking another new arrival in the form of Xherdan Shaqiri, a player whom the Nerazzurri are compelled to sign permanently at the end of the season.

Mancini worked hard to sign the German international from Arsenal in the winter window, but it is believed the Italian has become tired of Podolski’s below par performances and is ready to look for another option in the summer rather than sign him on a permanent deal.
