Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn cut a frustrated figure at a press conference earlier today when asked about why no players have yet arrived at the club.

Redfearn wants loan additions to a squad he feels is severely stretched, especially in the middle of the park.

Without Italian businessman Massimo Cellino at the helm, a man with whom Redfearn had formed a close bond, the club's transfer activity has slowed to a snail's pace.

Redfearn was asked what the delay is and revealed he simply does not know, having handed a list of potential additions to chairman Andrew Umbers.

"I don't know", was his frank reply.

"The players that are out there, I've put the list to Andrew Umbers, the chairman, he has the list of players that we're looking to bring in.

"It's down to the club if we can get them. There is whether they are available as well.

"But there are a lot of players coming to the end of their contracts and I'm pretty sure clubs will want to do deals as regards players moving out.

"So I'm hopeful a couple might come in before the end of the season."

The 49-year-old was pressed on whether he feels the club really understand the urgency with which he wants new arrivals at Elland Road.

Redfearn said he believes the club are on the same page, however again stressed that he is sure players are available, for a multitude of reasons, in the process posing the real question of why the Whites have not yet acted to meet his wishes.

"I think they understand. I've spoken to Andrew Umbers this morning and given him a list of players again that will do us.

"At this time of year there are a lot of players who are coming to the end of their contract, and a lot of players, and good quality players as well.

"There will be clubs wanting to offload players for different reasons, to cut budgets down or change the squad for the season after, some clubs that are safe and thinking about planning for the season after that look at letting players out.

"So it's a time you can get players in and I'm hoping we can get a couple across the line."

Redfearn's Leeds are next in action against Ipswich Town tomorrow evening at Elland Road as they look to bounce back from a run of back to back Championship defeats.
