Arsene Wenger has lavished praise on Alexis Sanchez after he fired Arsenal to a 2-1 win over QPR in a Premier League clash tonight.

Arsenal dominated possession at Loftus Road, but could not find a way to score against QPR in the opening 45 minutes, meaning it was 0-0 at half time.

The Gunners took the lead in the second half though when Olivier Giroud fired the ball home in the 64th minute, putting Arsenal in front.

Sanchez then doubled Arsenal's advantage just five minutes later, with Kieran Gibbs providing the assist for the Chilean.

QPR would not lie down though and eventually got themselves back in the game through Charlie Austin, who scored in the 82nd minute to make things nervy for Arsenal.

The Gunners saw out the victory though and Wenger was left especially pleased at Sanchez's performance.

"When you don't score it is on your mind, but he took his chance well. He scored a good goal", Wenger told a press conference.

"He never gives up.

"He's resilient and he's desperate to score. He has the mental strength to respond."
