Manchester United will wait until the very last moment of Radamel Falcao's loan before deciding whether to sign him on a permanent basis from Monaco, according to the Press Association.

It was claimed in France earlier today that the Red Devils have already decided they will not activate the purchase option contained in the Colombian's loan deal after being unimpressed with his performances.

The Red Devils were said to have made their decision after seeing Falcao toil against a League One defence in the form of Preston North End in the FA Cup, a game in which he was withdrawn on the hour mark.

But Louis van Gaal's men have not yet made any decision over keeping Falcao and will wait until the very end of his loan, in May, before reaching their conclusion.

The Old Trafford outfit will have to splash out around €55m to keep Falcao permanently, as per the terms of their agreement with Monaco.

However, it is possible the English giants could hold talks with the Ligue 1 club in an effort to reduce the fee total.

Falcao has struggled to get to grips with English football this season, although has still shown flashes of his brilliance, a goal against Aston Villa a notable moment.

But the jury is out on whether he will be at Manchester United next term.
