Arsene Wenger says his Arsenal side played a "very positive" game this evening after they claimed a 2-1 win over QPR to secure three vital Premier League points.

Arsenal could dominated possession at Loftus Road, but QPR stood firm and the Gunners could find no way through the R's defence in the opening 45 minutes, meaning both sides went in level at 0-0.

The Gunners took the lead in the 64th minute though, with Olivier Giroud hitting a left footed shot just outside the six yard box to put the visitors ahead.

Arsenal then looked to have sealed the deal when Alexis Sanchez struck in the 69th minute, getting onto a pass from Kieran Gibbs to fire home.

But QPR gave themselves hope after continually looking dangerous and Charlie Austin having a number of efforts. And Austin it was in the 82nd minute who fired QPR back into the game.

Arsenal though stood firm and grabbed the victory, leaving Wenger pleased overall with the display, although he feels his side should have scored more goals.

Wenger was quoted as saying by the BBC: "We needed to be strong and get the ball down more, to get back to our game, and we did that better in the second half, I felt it was all us.

"We scored two, but we could have scored more, we played very well in the second half, and our collective game as a group was good, the chances we created were good and we played with a lot of desire and belief.

"Overall it was a very positive game", the Arsenal boss added.
