John Guidetti has handed encouragement to Feyenoord in their desire to re-sign him in the summer, explaining he prefers a happy life over a high salary and hinting he would like to win the Eredivisie.

The Sweden international is on loan for the season at Scottish champions Celtic from Manchester City – and the Bhoys want to keep him on a permanent basis when his contract with the Citizens expires in the summer after he impressed with his nose for goal.

But Guidetti has held off committing to Celtic and Feyenoord, at whom he spent the 2011/12 season on loan, scoring 20 goals, are eyeing taking him back to De Kuip in the summer.

And they have been handed encouragement, after Guidetti told Dutch broadcaster RTV Rijnmond: "I prefer a happy life over a high salary.

"I want to win trophies in the big competitions, even if the Eredivisie is not a big league."

Feyenoord explored signing Guidetti last summer, but held concerns about his fitness, while his salary demands also made the Dutch side pause for thought. They ultimately backed out of a deal, leaving the Swede heading to Ronny Deila's Celtic.

Martin van Geel, Feyenoord's technical director, was in Scotland at the weekend to speak to Guidetti over a potential return to De Kuip.
