Chelsea forward Eden Hazard feels that with the tight fixture schedule ahead of the Blues, it was important to register a victory against West Ham United last night.

Jose Mourinho’s men travelled to Upton Park on the back of their League Cup triumph on Sunday and registered a 1-0 win against Sam Allardyce’s side courtesy of a Hazard header in the 22nd minute of the match.

The win sees Chelsea maintain their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League as they look to win their first domestic title since the 2009/10 season under Carlo Ancelotti.

Hazard admitted that with just two days between their League Cup final and the Hammers’ encounter it was not easy to maintain concentration during their trip to Upton Park.

However, the Belgium international expressed his delight over his side’s win over Sam Allardyce's men last night.

“After a final it is not easy to keep going and stay concentrated in the league but we are top of the table and we want to stay there”, Hazard told Chelsea TV.

“It’s a very good win for the confidence and for the rest of the season.”

After drawing 1-1 against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their round of 16 tie last month, Chelsea will host the French Ligue 1 outfit at Stamford Bridge next week.

And Hazard has already set his sights on helping the west London outfit prolong their stay in the prestigious competition.

“We still have a lot of games left.

“Now we have two days off to take care with the family and then we have another big game against PSG”, he concluded.
