Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes that his team stand a good chance of winning the FA Cup this season following the exit of several Premier League heavyweights in the earlier rounds.

Lallana, who arrived at Anfield from Southampton at the start of the current season, has made 32 appearances for the Reds so far this season. He has scored five goals and assisted a further four in all competitions in the present campaign.

The Reds are due to play Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in their quarter-final tie at Anfield on Sunday. And Lallana feels that his team have a great chance of progressing to the semi-final with a win over a team sitting tenth in the second division.

“It is a great competition in which we have a great chance of getting to Wembley in the semi-final”, the midfielder told the club site.

However, he added that Liverpool will not take their opponents lightly when the two teams go head-to-head this weekend.

“We won't underestimate Blackburn, we will dust ourselves down, recover well and go again Sunday.”

The current Premier League top two sides, Chelsea and Manchester City, are among the top division heavyweights who have bowed out of the prestigious domestic cup, and the 26-year-old feels that it provides a good opportunity for Liverpool to add to their seven FA Cup wins.

“A lot of the big guns went out in the early rounds so it is good that we can maybe capitalise on that, but Blackburn will not be an easy game.

“They will come here full of optimism and will want to cause an upset”, he added, emphasising Blackburn’s threat.
