Manchester United and Real Madrid are paying close attention to Sporting Lisbon defender Ricardo Esgaio.

The 21-year-old has recently shot to prominence on loan at Portguese Primeira Liga outfit Academica, a side he is on loan at from Sporting Lisbon.

Regular first team football has sped up Esgaio's development to such an extent that he now has two of the biggest clubs in world football on his tail.

According to Portuguese daily O Jogo, the 21-year-old is now being actively tracked by both Manchester United and Real Madrid, with the pair plotting a potential swoop.

Esgaio is a versatile performer, able to operate right down the right flank, from defence to midfield, to the wing.
