Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson’s agent has said that it is difficult to say whether his client will end up at Roma next season as there has been no recent contact with the Italian club.

Roma have been actively pursuing the Liverpool full-back, whose contract with the Reds runs out this summer, and have been keen to take him to Italy at the end of the season.

The player is yet to sign a new deal with the Reds and there was speculation towards the end of last year that Johnson was in Italy to agree a deal with Roma to join the club this summer.

However, the trail has gone cold and Jonathan Barnett, Johnson’s agent, admits that he is unsure whether his client will end up at Roma at the end of this campaign.

He did admit that there was previous contract with the Giallorossi, but a lack of recent talks with the Italian side has made him sceptical that Johnson’s future lies at the Stadio Olimpico.

“There have been contacts with the Giallorossi in the past”, Barnett told Romapress.us.

“Obviously a transfer like that would affect him and he is looking at his options. He wants a change in his career and wants to join a team who will compete for titles.

“A decision is yet to be taken and I cannot say whether he is considering Roma given the absence of recent contacts. But the Italian capital would be a nice place to play football.”

Though Johnson would like to stay in England, he is not averse to the idea of playing abroad and is prepared to taste a different style of football.
