Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew insists that youngster Wilfried Zaha needs to forget about his Manchester United past and concentrate on building his career again.

The 22-year-old moved to Manchester United in January 2013, but was immediately loaned back to Crystal Palace until the end of the season, helping the Eagles win promotion to the Premier League.

He eventually returned to Old Trafford the following season, but failed to make an impact for the Red Devils, being sent out on multiple loans and eventually being sold to his old club Crystal Palace in January this year.

Zaha's current manager now feels that the move to such a big club as Manchester United came in too early for his starlet.

The manager also feels that the youngster needs to forget everything about the past and concentrate on doing his best, as he is doing at present, in order to revive his club as well as international career.

"I think the Man United thing came too early for a young player who, let's be honest, didn't get enough of an opportunity there", Pardew told the FA's official website.

"He needs to get rid of it now and move on and build his career again.

"There's no reason, in my opinion, why at his age he can't get back to Man United again as a seasoned player who knows how to deal with the situation better."

Zaha, who was impressive within the England Under-21 ranks, was handed his senior debut for the Three Lions by manager Roy Hodgson in 2012 during a match against Sweden.
