Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan would like to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund, but he is keen to consider his options before committing to a new deal.

The Germany international has recaptured some of his old form after recovering from a career threatening back injury and has again established himself as one of the key members of Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund squad at the Westfalenstadion.

With his contract expiring in the summer of 2016, the Bundesliga outfit are keen to secure the midfielder’s future at the club and are currently negotiating a new deal with the player.

Though the 24-year-old is happy at Dortmund and wants to sign a new deal, Gundogan is keen to consider the options on his table before putting pen to paper on a fresh contract with BVB, according to German magazine Sport Bild.

Interest from England, especially from Manchester United, is making Gundogan think twice before committing his long term future to Dortmund. Gundogan is believed to be keen to get a taste of the Premier League and Louis van Gaal is also rumoured to be an admirer of the German international.

The midfielder’s indecision is also expected to bring Arsenal back into the transfer saga as Arsene Wenger has a long-term interest in the player and he is expected to provide stiff competition to Manchester United if Gundogan decides to move in the summer.

After missing a chunk of the season due to injury, Gundogan has made 21 appearances in all competitions and he is expected to play a major role in the business end of the campaign as Dortmund look to climb up the table.
