Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is facing a fight to secure his future at Wolfsburg after failing to impress coach Dieter Hecking.

Bendtner was released on a free transfer by Arsenal at the end of last season and joined Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, penning a deal running until 2017.

The Denmark striker has been restricted to substitute appearances in recent games, but was handed 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Mainz at the weekend.

Bendtner failed to impress and according to German magazine Kicker, Wolfsburg are now considering offloading him.

The striker however is determined to fight for his spot at the Volkswagen Arena, despite continuing interest from FC Copenhagen.

Bendtner has scored just once in 16 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg this season, though he has scored three goals in the club's Europa League run.

The Dane's record is in sharp contrast to his rival for a starting spot, Bas Dost, who has bagged 16 goals in all competitions for Wolfsburg this term, with 13 scored in just 14 Bundesliga matches by the Dutchman.
