Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has ruled out selling their defender Dante, who has in recent years been linked with both Monaco and Manchester United.

Dante joined the Bavarian giants from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2012 and played a stellar role in his first season in the club as Jupp Heynckes guided the side to a historic treble.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been boosted in defensive department following Holger Badstuber’s return to full fitness and summer arrival of Mehdi Benatia from Serie A outfit Roma.

The Brazil international has been linked with a move away to Premier League giants Manchester United and French Ligue 1 side Monaco, but Sammer has ruled out a summer move for the centre-back, saying that he is an integral part of the team whose impact at the club goes beyond just his first team appearances.

“It is hard to define in words how important Dante is for Bayern Munich, to the dressing room, in training and during the game”, Sammer was quoted as saying by Kicker.
