Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has revealed that his deteriorating relationship with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti forced him to move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Morata joined Juventus at the start of the current season and he has enjoyed a stellar introduction into Italian football. In his 31 appearances in all competitions so far, he has scored eleven goals and assisted a further five.

In his four years in the Real Madrid first team following his elevation from the reserves in 2010, the Spaniard made 51 appearances, scoring nine times and assisting a further six in the process.

Morata alongside his fellow Real Madrid youth academy graduate Jese Rodriquez were billed to be the future of Los Blancos’ forward line, but Ancelotti’s arrival hastened the 22-year-old’s departure.

And the youngster, whose prolific performances in Serie A have seen him called to Spain senior national team by Vicente del Bosque, has said that he is still not sure what made the Italian drop him out of the side.

“I still don't understand why I went from playing well to being left in the stands at Real Madrid”, Morata said in an interview with radio station Onda Cero.

“I didn't demand to be a starter, but I did expect to be treated differently.

“My relationship with Ancelotti was virtually non-existent."

He has contrasted Ancelotti’s behaviour to that of his current boss Massimiliano Allegri, saying that the Juventus manager keeps him in the loop regarding his plans.

“Allegri keeps a very close eye on me, for better or for worse.”
