West Ham United defender Carl Jenkinson is relishing the prospect of playing for the England Under-21 side in their upcoming fixtures.

Jenkinson is currently on a loan spell at the Boleyn Ground from Arsenal and he has gone on to become an important member of Sam Allardyce’s starting eleven.

The 23-year-old has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers and contributed two assists in the process. His assured performances as a right-back have earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 team as they prepare to take on the Czech Republic on Friday and then Germany on 30th March.

And Jenkinson, who has one senior cap to his name, is relishing the prospect of playing for England.

“Yes, I am”, said the defender, when asked by the club site if he is looking forward to playing in the friendlies.
